At the Made by Google 2024 event, Google unveiled its highly anticipated Pixel 9 series, packed with cutting-edge AI features that extend far beyond its default assistant, Gemini.
This new lineup introduces several innovative tools designed to enhance user experience, starting with advanced photo editing capabilities. One standout feature, Add Me, uses a blend of augmented reality and machine learning to include the photographer in group shots. After taking the initial photo, the app guides the photographer and a second person to realign their positions, allowing AI to merge the images seamlessly.
Building on last year’s Magic Editor from the Pixel 8 series, Google has added exciting updates to its photo editing suite. The new auto-framing feature optimizes photo composition by focusing on key subjects, while generative AI can expand photos or modify backgrounds based on user input.
The Pixel 9 also introduces two new apps: a revamped screenshot manager and Pixel Studio. The screenshot app not only organizes and stores captured images but also allows users to search through them for specific details, like Wi-Fi information from a vacation. Meanwhile, Pixel Studio offers on-device AI-powered image creation, enabling users to generate and style images directly from their phone. However, while the app can create a variety of visuals, it currently avoids generating human faces.
As the Pixel 9 series hits the market, these AI-driven innovations highlight Google’s commitment to enhancing everyday tasks with sophisticated technology, making the latest Pixel phones not just smart but exceptionally intuitive.
