ElevenLabs, the innovative startup known for its cutting-edge AI tools, is expanding its Reader app globally, now supporting 32 languages. After its initial launch in the U.S., U.K., and Canada this past June, the app has quickly gained traction for its ability to convert text content into lifelike audio across various languages and voices.
With the Reader app, users can upload articles, PDFs, or e-books and listen to them in an array of languages including Portuguese, Spanish, French, Hindi, and more. ElevenLabs has bolstered its library with hundreds of new voices, including those of iconic actors like Judy Garland and James Dean, thanks to its advanced Turbo v2.5 model, which enhances both speed and audio quality.
This expansion marks ElevenLabs' move from being a unicorn—following an impressive $80 million funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz—to a leader in consumer-facing AI tools. The company’s technology also powers voice features in various platforms such as Rabbit r1 and Perplexity’s search engine.
While the Reader app competes with other services like Speechify and PocketFM, ElevenLabs plans to introduce additional features like offline access and audio sharing soon. As it continues to grow, the app aims to set a new standard in how we interact with text and audio content globally.
