Spotify is enhancing its user experience by introducing a fun new feature that allows users to design and customize their own playlist cover art directly within the app. Announced on Tuesday, this beta rollout is available in 65 markets for both free and premium users on iOS and Android, providing a fresh way to personalize playlists and showcase individual style.
With this new feature, users can easily create custom artwork for their playlists. To get started, simply select a playlist, tap the three-dot menu, and choose the “Create cover art” option. From there, users can either upload a photo from their camera roll or start with a blank canvas. The editing tools include various text styles, colors, effects, and even stickers, enabling creativity in every aspect of the design. Plus, background colors can be adjusted, and gradients can be added for a unique touch.
While Spotify allows only one custom cover art per playlist at a time, users can save their designs before creating new ones. This feature might seem like a small addition to the streaming platform, but it demonstrates Spotify's ongoing commitment to enhancing user personalization. The company is also experimenting with other features, such as personalized playlists based on written prompts, further showcasing its dedication to user engagement.
This update coincides with Spotify's ongoing efforts to stay competitive against rivals like Apple Music and YouTube Music. Recently, Spotify announced it would be testing music videos for premium users in 85 new markets, a strategic move aimed at better competing with YouTube, known for its strong support for music videos.
With these exciting new features, Spotify continues to evolve its platform, making it not just a music streaming service but a canvas for user expression and creativity.
